Dear Prime Minister Trudeau and Foreign Minister Garneau,

Palestinians face a dire human rights situation in occupied East Jerusalem and Gaza at the moment.  Hundreds of Palestinians risk being evicted from their homes by Israel in a shameless act of ethnic cleansing. And Israeli air strikes are killing dozens of civilians, including children, in the Gaza Strip.

Bland calls for calm by Canada are not enough. Canada must immediately call for an end to Israeli aggression.

Human Rights Watch issued a report last month documenting Israel’s apartheid laws and practices against Palestinians.

The Human Rights Watch report calls on the international community to censure Israel for these racist policies, including by conditioning arms sales and military assistance on Israeli authorities taking concrete and verifiable steps towards ending their commission of the crimes of apartheid and persecution. I implore you to implement these recommendations immediately. This is not a question of ‘both sides’. There is one party responsible and with the power to change this tragic situation, and it is Israel.

Please stand up for human rights and pressure Israel to end its current aggression and system of apartheid.
